France is taking a decisive step in the race for digital security. The French National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI) has announced it will stop certifying security products lacking quantum-resistant encryption starting in 2027. This decision sends ripples through the technology — and crypto — industries.

? **What ANSSI Announced**
It was during the France Quantum 2026 summit that Samih Souissi, ANSSI’s Chief of Staff, officially announced the news: starting in 2027, the agency will no longer certify products that do not incorporate post-quantum cryptography (PQC). By 2030, companies will be required to exclusively purchase ‘quantum-safe’ products.

This announcement comes as no surprise to insiders. ‘ANSSI has been preparing this move for years,’ commented Marin Ivezic, founder of Applied Quantum consulting firm, on LinkedIn. ‘What changed yesterday is that ANSSI’s Chief of Staff publicly stated that the date is now firm.’

ANSSI certification is an essential prerequisite for the use of security products within French government agencies and critical infrastructure operators.
