The Open Network (TON) changed its native currency name from Toncoin to Gram, reverting to the original name from its 2018 whitepaper. The rebranding coincided with a broader ecosystem update that included improved wallet functionality and cross-chain messaging capabilities. The Gram name was originally associated with Telegram’s blockchain project before regulatory challenges forced the platform to separate from the messaging giant.
