Samsung Wallet Set to Integrate Stablecoins: A Giant Leap for Crypto Adoption

Samsung Electronics has announced its intention to add support for stablecoins to Samsung Wallet, its digital wallet. This decision marks a new step in the integration of digital assets into consumer products, as the South Korean giant uses its Galaxy Unpacked event to unveil its crypto ambitions.

The news, reported by Cointelegraph on July 24, 2026, indicates that Samsung plans to integrate stablecoins—cryptocurrencies backed by stable assets like the US dollar—directly into its Wallet app. Although the group has not yet disclosed which specific stablecoins will be supported, nor a launch timeline or partners, this announcement represents a strong signal for mainstream crypto adoption.

Integration Follows Coinbase Partnership

This announcement is not Samsung’s first foray into digital assets. In October 2025, the group had already forged a strategic partnership with Coinbase to allow over 75 million Galaxy users in the United States to buy cryptocurrencies directly from Samsung Wallet. The integration of stablecoins goes a step further by transforming the Wallet into a genuine tool for payments and savings in digital assets.

Samsung Wallet already combines payment cards, loyalty programs, and other financial services. The recent introduction of Galaxy Card—a Samsung credit card—adds another layer to its expanding financial ecosystem. The arrival of stablecoins could allow users to settle purchases, send money, or save in stablecoins directly from their smartphone, without needing to go through an exchange platform.

A Strong Signal for Stablecoin Adoption

The entry of a giant like Samsung—which ships hundreds of millions of smartphones each year—into the stablecoin universe is potentially transformative for the sector. While stablecoins such as USDT (Tether), USDC (Circle), and RLUSD (Ripple) are gaining adoption, their integration into a wallet pre-installed on millions of devices could significantly accelerate their everyday use.

The stablecoin market currently has a market capitalization of over $200 billion and serves as the backbone of the crypto economy: trading, DeFi, cross-border payments, and now mainstream banking services. Samsung’s move into this space validates the thesis that stablecoins will become a universal financial tool, on par with credit cards or bank transfers.

Samsung, a Long-Time Crypto Player

Samsung’s commitment to crypto did not begin yesterday. The group holds a $408 million stake in Dunamu, the operator of the Upbit exchange, one of the largest in South Korea. Its Galaxy smartphones have also integrated a blockchain wallet for several years, and the brand was one of the first major manufacturers to support NFTs.

This strategy fits into a broader movement of institutional adoption of stablecoins. On the same day, the Philippine bank BPI announced a stablecoin payment pilot for remote workers, and Ripple launched its Mint platform to expand institutional access to its RLUSD stablecoin. In the United States, the GENIUS Act is advancing through Congress to regulate stablecoin issuance, while the Fed continues to study the implications of a digital dollar.

Which Stablecoins for Samsung Wallet?

Although Samsung has not yet revealed its partners, several natural candidates are emerging. USDC from Circle, particularly present in the institutional wallet ecosystem; RLUSD from Ripple (a historical partner of Samsung in Asia); or USDT from Tether, the undisputed market leader. It is also possible that Samsung could develop its own stablecoin, following the examples of Meta (abandoned Diem) or PayPal (PYUSD).

One of the key aspects will be integration with Galaxy Card: being...
